the world's highest swimming pool
Singapore invested 4 billion euros to build the “Marina Bay Sands Tourism City” was formally opened on June 23, the world’s highest swimming pool located on 55th floor will undoubtedly be the highlight of the project.
The swimming pool built on the roof looks like the surface of the water extends to the horizon. While swimming, you can overlooking the beautiful cityscape of Singapore. The water will overflow from the swimming pool and penetrate into specially designed catchment area, flowing back the pool again through water pumps and water treatment systems.

Ummh! I don’t really think that this could possibly be the world’s HIGHEST swimming pool. If I remember my altitudes correctly, there is another even WAY HIGHER swimming pool at an altitude of 8,200 feet at High Camp, Squaw Valley, CA. Yep, I don’t think that something just 55 stories up on some skyscraper even compares to the Swimming Lagoon where the VIII Olympic Winter Games were held. I’ve been to the Swimming Lagoon in June of 2007 and it was a cool, crisp 55 degrees with a stiff breeze coming up the mountain with some surreal views of neighboring Lake Tahoe(which happens to be the place where I was born. Not the lake, silly, I was born in So. Lake Tahoe, CA side.) You can see the multi-colored rings from the pool symbolizing its honor as the site of something incredibly special and enchanting. In addition, there is a small, permanent museum just feet from the pool with all of the national flags that were actually brought into the Opening Ceremonies by the countries represented as well as other paraphernalia from the Games. They have a gift shop at High Camp as well as a burger shop and a nice, almost formal restaurant for your dining pleasure. The down-side, you have to pay $26 to buy a trip up&down the cable car($22 for children) in order to get to High Camp and swim at the pool and use the facilities there. Also, bring-your-own-gum as the elevation change in the cable car will cause your ears to pop!
